VeruTEK® developed three dispersant products that use biodegradable plant oil-based surfactants to disperse released oil and hydrogen peroxide to destroy the oil in place; VeruSOL®-Marine, VeruSOL®-Marine 200 and VeruSOL®-Marine 300. These three dispersant systems were developed with differing performance characteristics and aquatic toxicity profiles. Two of the three dispersants are considerably less toxic than those currently being used in the Gulf of Mexico, with the third providing proximate toxicity.
VeruTEK® developed these three surfactant systems for the various oil spill applications. Where homogeneous emulsification in a continuous water phase is desirable (i.e., beach clean-up with enhanced dissolution in oil-in-water micelles), VeruSOL®-Marine is the best choice. For open water where emulsification of the oil in a water-in-oil dispersion is desirable, with the dispersed oil phase floating on the surface of water, the VeruSOL®-Marine 300 is the best choice. In marshes or on beaches where both a homogeneous emulsion of the crude oil and separate floating water in oil emulsion is desirable, VeruSOL®-Marine 200 is preferred. In environments where dispersion of the crude oil and enhancement of the dispersed oil destruction is preferred the additional of hydrogen peroxide can have a profound impact on the fate and transport of the dispersed crude oil.
VeruSOL vs Corexit
Independent lab results verified VeruSOL® Marine meets EPA National Contingency Plan (NCP) toxicology levels. Testing documented very low toxicity levels, making the solution both safer and more effective than products currently used in the Gulf. One of the VeruTEK dispersants, VeruSOL® Marine 300, was shown to be more than 30 times safer (791.2mg/L vs 25.2mg/L) than either of the two COREXIT dispersants in toxicity testing with fish (Mendida berylilina). When tested with shrimp VeruSOL Marine 300 was more than 10 times safer (444.2 mg/L vs 32.23 mg/L). The VeruSOL® Marine family of dispersants is safe for plants, wetlands, mammals and people.

VERUSOLVE MARINE WHITE PAPER
Ecofriendly, Biodegradable Surfactant/Oxidizer
VeruSOLVE Marine™ is a proprietary and patented "green" formulation made with plant-derived surfactants and oxidants; advancing microemulsion oxidization chemistry applied to cleaning while destroying spilled oil and fuels. Highly effective in water, soil, rock, and building materials
Spill Response
Upon contact, VeruSOLVE Marine™ associates directly with the oil to begin emulsifying it so that the oxidant can destroy it - not simply moving or absorbing the problem.
VeruSOLVE Marine™ is an aqueous based liquid that can be applied through standard spray equipment. Ideal for treating access limited areas and structures.
Features and Benefits
- An ecofriendly treatment − VeruSOLVE Marine™ is made from plant materials and is biodegradable.
- Cleans and destroys on contact − VeruSOLVE Marine™ forms stable Winsor Type I microemulsion immediately on contact with oil--allowing targeted destruction by the oxidant.
- Easy to use − VeruSOLVE Marine™ is delivered ready to use and can be applied using standard spray equipment.
- Applications − VeruSOLVE Marine™ is ideal for cleaning oil and fuel from sand, concrete, sediments, parking lots, and building materials.
